January 22, 2022, is the first anniversary of the entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). In Colorado Springs citizens will celebrate this date in front of the City Hall calling on local government to urge the United States to sign and ratify this international law. TIME 12 to 1 PM. Similar celebrations will be held throughout the US and around the world. We will write letters to Colorado Government Officials urging ratification and compliance.
The United States professes to believe in the “Rule of Law” and is a signatory to the United Nations Charter. Not only has the United States Government/Military Industrial Congressional Complex refused to sign and ratify this treaty, but also it has intimidated many of its “Allies” from doing so. And in addition, it has committed billions of new dollars to the “modernization” of its nuclear arsenal. It has used the still in force Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to justify military action vs. Iraq, economic boycott of Iran, but not to even call out Israel for its possession of nuclear weapons.
