Bishop’s 75 hour Vigil in Japan

Bishop Shirahama of Hiroshima is a standing member of the Partnership for a World without Nuclear Weapons, initiated by Archbishop John Wester of Santa Fe, NM. The Partnership is currently composed of the dioceses of Santa Fe, Seattle, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, two South Korean dioceses and growing.

The Archbishops of Santa Fe, Seattle, and Nagasaki and the Bishop of Hiroshima will be traveling to New York City in late November for the first Review Conference of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The Archbishop and Archbishop Emeritus of Nagasaki plan to bring a replica of the Madonna of Nagasaki (a statute) whose face was burnt by the plutonium bomb 81 years ago.
